Sprout had his first picture yesterday! We got to see our baby... which really just looks like a blob right now. The most amazing part was getting to hear Sprout's heart beating. Me being a paranoid nurse was worried that Sprout's heart wasn't beating fast enough... but the sono tech said everything looked fine. Seeing Sprout made everything more real. Mike was so cute about the whole thing. He was so excited when he saw Sprout and it was like he was walking on a cloud all day after that.
So, remember how in my last post I said I didn't have any overwhelming nausea? Well, I spoke too soon. The past week has been aweful. I have had horrible nausea, but thankfully can't manage to get anything up. I have been trying everything: crackers by my bed, eating every 2-3 hours, gingerale.... and nothing seems to work. Mike has been so sweet and caring. He has taken over the wifely duties of cleaning the house and he is so attentive to me. I really do have an amazing hubby... he is going to be a great dad!
We are officially 7 weeks today... only 5 more until we are done with the first trimester... and hopefully the end of morning sickness. We are also going to England in a little less than a month to visit my folks... and tell them our good news! I can't wait to tell my mom!

5 weeks
My good friend and new(ish) mom Leah told me that I needed to take pictures in the same outfit every month... so here is month 1!
So this week was our first doctors appointment. We met with Dr. Crochett's nurse who took a comprehensive medical/social/family history. She also went through an orientation packet with us that had a whole bunch of information about what not to eat, medications I can take safely, and tips on conquring morning sickness. She took several tubes of blood and a urine sample. Due to the history of twins in my family, we have an ultrasound scheduled for December 23rd! We are so excited to see our little Sprout and to hear his/her heart beating!!! Mike hopes that there is only one Sprout in there!
I have been trying to drink more water (apparently my urine was a little too concentrated) and eating balanced. No overwhelming nausea yet... only when it's been a couple hours since I've eaten something. Sprout has been requiring at least one nap a day... and working nights have been pretty rough! My boobs still feel like boulders on fire! Hopefully that will subside soon... hopefully!!
Starting on a lifetime adventure!
So... here we are! Mike and I are going to be parents. We have been praying and seeking wise council for several months about starting our family... and here is the answer to our prayers! It all started on December 1st... It was supposed to be "that time of the month" for me, but I knew something was not right. I was extrememly tired, my boobs were so sore, and I was having strange cramps that I had never had before. So, I had decided to take a pregnancy test... something that I had done SEVERAL times before because as most of your know I tend to freak out and over react. This time I felt different, hopeful but not too hopeful! Then after several minutes the stick read "PREGNANT"... I don't think I would have reacted the same way if it would have been two pink lines (But I did take a second non digital test!).
Mike was at work at this time so I very impatiently emailed him to ask him to come home asap. I also asked him to get the mail on his way in. So, I very sneakily placed the positive pregnancy test in the mail box and hid out with my camera! His face when he opened the mail box was priceless!! He was so shocked, excited, speechless!!
